&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;b) History of the department: &nbsp;The Panskura Banamali College (Autonomous) is one of the oldest college of West Bengal. The department of Zoology has to first initiate in the year 1984-85 as a under graduate department under Calcutta University (CU) and in the year of 1999-2000 this department got as a Honours graduate department under Vidyasagar University (VU). The department has the good teaching and research infrastructure catering to under graduate course. Presently, a team of 2 permanent and 4 SACT faculty members were involved in this department and only 1 faculty member is engaged research in the diverse areas of aquaculture, ecology, fisheries, toxicology and environmental science for blending the basic and the applied research. For the outstanding contribution, department has got the WBDST and UGC special grants for the development of society of the state of art research infrastructure. The success of the Department of Zoology is a continuous process and students, research fellows, office staff members, and faculty members have the enthusiasm to reach at highest possible position in the academic field.
